Yesterday was a lil rough, my significant other had a drink, and my nerves started getting aggitated. He rarely drinks, so I don't want him to "walk on eggshells" around me. I put my workout clothes on and ran for 45 minutes on my treadmill. Lol. I'm so happy I have my treadmill. does anyone else get like that....at least in early stages of sobriety? Like you look at the bottle, and ....not sure hot to explain it. Like your mind is like, "just one...", and your body gets shaky/agitated? Maybe it's just me. Nonetheless, made it through day 5, and doing well today on day 6 Thank you everyone for all your support. I hope everyone out there is doing well also!
Glad you got through another day! When I first got sober the line between me drinking and not drinking was so thin that the thought of having "just one," still seemed rational to me. Thank god I was able to play the tape through my head to remind myself about what typically happened when I tried to have just one drink. Even when I was drinking and DID have just one, I was always thinking about or wishing I could have another...and another...and another. Now with some more clarity, I've surrendered to the fact that I can never, ever have just one!
That obsession that we will one day be able to drink like normal drinkers (i.e. "have just one), is totally normal for people struggling with alcohol, in my experience. So your reaction was totally normal, in my opinion, and your choice to exercise and burn all that negative energy was quite a healthy choice! At five days sober I'd feel the way you felt and eat a pint or two of Ben & Jerry's to blow off the steam...
