Hey, I'm new.

Alcohol has been a big part of my life. I drink daily, and it's gotten to where I do stuff like wake up at 5 am and have a few more drinks to get back to sleep for a few more hours. That can't be good. I was so hungover/drunk/tired at work the other morning, I didn't think I'd get through the shift! So I figure, time to stop for a while. I've decided to not drink for 30 days, to see how that feels.

I'm gay, a millennial, and I live in my mom's basement and work as a paralegal. I've been stalking this website for a few weeks. My plan is basically to go running and eat healthy and post on here. I figure that'll be a start in distracting myself so I don't drink. Idk.

Thanks to everyone for being a part of this site, it seems like such a great community! Muah, much love, y'all are great, k.

Hi Philip, Welcome!

It sounds like a good plan to start with and I hope that after the 30 days you stay around and reap the benefits of sobriety.

Hi and welcome! I think you'll feel so much better at 30 days sober that you won't want to go back to drinking.

Welcome aboard Phillip. Sounds like a good plan moving forward. Just remember to reach out here if you are feeling weak or if your AV is getting the best of you. This place was and still is a life line for many of us here.

Glad you found us!

I too was a 5-6am drinker. I feel your pain.

Welcome and congrats on your decision to stay sober for 30 days!

Hi and welcome, Philip! If you haven't already, you may want to check out the 24 hour forum - I find it really helpful to focus on one day at a time, and the support is awesome! Glad you're here

It's great to meet you, Phillip. It helps to be among those who understand.

I was doing that too - waking up & taking a few sips to get back to sleep. Then when I got up, a few more sips...before long it led to all day drinking - & disaster. I could never trust myself once it was in my system. Wish it hadn't taken decades for me to get free. Glad you're here.

Welcome! drinking early morning to get back to sleep was one of my first 'warning signs' too. Glad you're taking action before things spiral.
