You're right, booze and depression don't mix and booze makes it 100 times worse.

I wouldn't necessarily tell work to take a hike. I don't know the details of the situation but it could end up causing you more stress in the long term, especially if you're now trying to get sober.

Have you got any support or a plan to get sober?

Hi woodies - Welcome

I agree with Yogini. I wouldn't burn any bridges.

What I would do right now is focus on not drinking and staying that way.

There's a lot of different approaches here you can read about and a lot of good ideas and support

Yeah, step off the warpath. If, like most, you have health insurance through your job you should take advantage of it and get some help with your addiction.

Woodies, as others have said, slow down, take a deep breath. Even if you are drinking, think this through. I've felt like you feel. Vent all you want, but think before you act.

Welcome to the family. I wouldn't tell work to take a hike, I'd work on a plan to get and stay sober. Alcohol makes depression so much worse.

I agree with everybody else to not tell your job to take a hike. There have been many times I made a bad decision while drinking or soon after that I now regret. Try hard to slow down, and focus only on getting sober. Everything else can wait. John

Ah yes. Regret. I had soo much regret. All due to drinking. Nearly every day, almost every decision..or the lack of one, just made me regret what I did.

That all stopped when I stopped drinking last April. Now I have a clear mind and my dark past is getting further away.

My suggestion is to stop drinking. Keep everything else the same for a while. Then when you have strong sober legs, confidence, and a clear mind, I'd start addressing other issues.

For now, drinking is the root of all issues.

Alcohol made my mild depression into a cat 5 disaster.

Welcome to SR Woodies. Some good advice here already. I definitely wouldn't burn any bridges until you have another way to dry land in play.

Step 1, don't drink today
Step 2, don't drink tomorrow
Step 3, repeat the first two steps and everything else will fall into place.

Welcome aboard. lean on us as much as you can to help get you through.
