Happy Birthday...in a totally different way
Over the last decade I have "taken a break" from drinking almost every January 1. Most years I do pretty well...three months, once ten months...and then either life hit me upside the head with something terrible (I've lost three beloved dogs in the past two years, two of them quite suddenly to cancer) or I made it to my birthday and AV thought I deserved some champagne.
Well, today is my birthday. There's an bottle of champagne in the pantry someone gave us. We are under a bunch of stress, looking to sell our dream house we built much of ourselves in a slow market and move across the country. I've had bronchitis for ten days and it's freaking snowing.
But there is no way that champagne is going down my throat.
And that makes it a happy birthday.

Happy birthday! Give yourself a gift and pour that nasty champagne down the drain right now. Or throw it in the dirtiest garbage pail you can find if you don't want to open it and smell it. You don't need it haunting you.
