So sick

The shakes are uncontrollable. I need to get help. I don't even know how to ask. I can't believe I drove to the store, can't imagine coming off this on my own. I was only about 12 hours in and felt like the world was ending.

Can you call your doc and ask about detox? Detoxing alone is VERY scary and dangerous.

You can do this but you are right...you need help!

Hugs to you.

I'd ask your doctor for help in detoxing safely. And then, after you've detoxed, develop a plan to stay sober so you don't have to go thru this anymore.

GoingNowhere, you need to go where you can get help. Go to the doctors. Then Detox, then Rehab.

Your Dr. has good meds. to help with all that you are feeling right now. You don't have to do this on your own...you don't get extra credit!! Reach out for help...you are playing with fire. It is very dangerous to go at this alone, call your Dr. you will not regret it. Just think in a couple short hours you can be panic free. Do it!!! Best wishes.

I think it's fantastic you want to get sober.

Going "cold turkey" can be very dangerous.

Please call your Doctor or go to the ER.

Just be honest, tell them the amount and duration of your drinking.

You don't need to suffer through withdrawal.

I've detoxed both on my own and with medical help, and with medical help was infinitely easier, not to mention much safer. I was so scared to go to detox the first time, but after I did I had no idea why I had been so worried. No one judged me, I felt physically and mentally better, and my shakes stopped after 1 day (as opposed to 2 weeks when I detoxed at home).

Do yourself a huge favor and get medical help.

If you're worried about it and don't feel right, go to the Dr / ER.

Going to the hospital, they're going to know me by name soon. I can't get this sick again. I can't drink again. Not one. I don't know what this means for my future, I can't even see an hour from now.

Glad you're going to the hospital. They will help you.

Remember you never have to feel this way again as long as you don't take that first drink. Wishing you the best...

I understand GoingNowhere, I couldn't think past 15 minutes my first day of sobriety. I got through it and so can you!

It takes courage to post and ask for help, I'm glad you joined us.

Please let us know how you make out at the hospital.
