77 Days Sober.. Tension Headaches from HELL

I am 77 Days sober today and for the last week or so been having headaches..

From looking online it looks like tension headaches.

The pressure starts a few hours after I get up and then is like an uphill peak. It gets worse and worse and worse and then later in the evening it will finally get better.

Its super tight and tons of pressure.

Anyone else experience this?

I had a spell of them about ten years ago. Buying new pillows with better neck support took care of it for me. Not sure yours sounds the same.

Sorry to hear that, sound very uncomfortable. Have you had a checkup since you quit? Might not be bad idea, especially if the headaches continue.

Yes I have been seen but not since this headache started I started zoloft a month ago and my follow up is friday. I have had these for a week or so

I often get a week or two of tension headaches whenever I make any sort of huge change in my life. Like right now at 11 days sober for instance. Nothing pharmaceutical helps, so I have to just minimize the pain with relaxation and staying hydrated. I find that with tension hadaches, I tend to clench my jaw, which just makes the headache worse. If I can be mindful of my muscle tension, particularly my jaw and my shoulders, the pain is minimal. Doing a five minute body scan meditation can do wonders for a tension headache. My doctor told me that lying on your stomach with your arms crossed under your chest helps regulate circulation and cuts down on the throbbing. It seems to work sometimes, but it may also just be the power of suggestion. Good luck with your headaches. And hey, it's still better than a hangover or withdrawal!

When you are able to lie down, down load music for headaches/migraine and try it. Seems to work, not sure why or how. X
