New here - Attempting Day 3
New here - Attempting Day 3
Hey everyone - this is my first post so please bear with me!
Usually an every day drinker....and like many others I am also dreading the weekend.
I know the agitation will start to set in soon, so I'm glad you guys are here! Hopefully I can get through tomorrow without drinking, but I know what a stubborn brat I can be!
Thanks guys!

Welcome Purplrks! Glad to meet you
I was drinking every day in the end too, & it was destroying me. When I found SR it really helped to be able to discuss my feelings with those who understood. You'll find us a friendly, non-judgmental group. I'm very glad you are going for Day 3. We all understand how hard it is, but you can do it.

Hi Purplrks,
Welcome to the site and congrats on your decision to quit.
Your stubbornness could be used for good rather than ill......
Stubbornly refuse to drink! The weekend is going to pass one way or the other so why not push through and be proud of yourself in two more days?
We are here for you.

Welcome Purplrks!
The first few days were so hard for me. The urge to drink was so strong but I kept saying to myself, "You can do this!" over and over again. And when I succeeded in going to bed sober, I patted myself on the back...several times. And the next day I'd start over again.
Then you will find that the days turn into weeks and the urge to drink drops.
I never thought I could get sober. I really thought that alcohol would end my life.
I'm celebrating 4 months today and I do not want to drink.
Find your inner strength. You can do this!

Welcome, when I got serious about getting sober I went to AA, got a sponsor, and worked the 12 steps.

Thanks everyone for all the support! Made it to day 4 - normally on Saturdays I go straight to the bar after work, but today I didn't let the autopilot take over and I took a different route instead....haven't had a sober Saturday in quite some time.... so far so good! Thanks again - hang in there, guys! We've got this
Getting edgy
Usually right now it's cocktail time. So it is time to walk the dog and thank God the sun popped out. To purpik, I know I got the spelling wrong but I'm also on day 3 and old habits have to be turned to new good ones. You can do it.
I made it through the first whole weekend sober in a very long time. It's 12:10 a.m Sunday and I'm tired. But something great happened a few hours ago. A old friend actually phoned , not text, not FB but a real voice for a change. It was wonderful to hear from her. She was thinking about me and that was it. You know I may be a newbie but I have always believed the Universe works. If you give an opening good things do happen. Here's to a great happy sleep. Ciao
Congrats to all newbies . My time zone is wrong

Made it through the dreaded weekend but still no great sleep. Same headache from days ago. Any pointers. It feel like my skull is in a vise I feel like I'm waking up like I used to tired and and my head is throbbing.
