Survive and Thrive Weekender March 4
Ok I'll do it - first thing that popped into my head when I saw the thread this morning. She's talking about a man, but it mostly works anyway.

Good question. I'm still working out the plans. Saturday morning I'm hitting the pool and then a class at the gym ... Sunday possibly the same to start the day. We have some household projects we are trying to wrap up and with luck I'll get a menu plan for dinners next week and do a bunch of healthy food prep. I think I'll take my older son out for a date of some sort (and my husband the same with our younger son). I also have to finish the prep work for a training Bootcamp I'm doing toward a professional certification. :-)
ICDB, this thread sometimes takes on a personality of sorts, often it is just people having fun and sharing songs is a way to express feelings.
And very often there is a message in the song. People will share a poem or a meme with a message. Or they'll share a thought totally unrelated to anything. Or talk about their day...
I believe the 'song component' has evolved over the past couple years.
There may be no rhyme or reason to it. Or it may be about a specific topic.
Many people relate to certain songs or certain songs bring back memories.
It is just another way of expressing feelings - like purchasing greeting cards for an event. Sometimes you get a blank card and write in your own thoughts, and sometimes you get a card with something already written for you.
Sometimes posting a song is a method to express your thoughts using another medium. Make sense?
Oh, and Ruby likes to dance so we post songs so she can dance... kidding.

I am just so thrilled that the days are getting longer I can hardly contain myself. The air "feels" like spring, even tough it's still in the 20's here. We are supposed to reach 60 early next week! I'm thinking about my garden. Last year my daughter and her (now ex) husband created a garden in my yard and were responsible for it. It didn't work out so well. This year I will be hands-on. Hopefully it goes better!

so I must be losing my mind. Last week I couldn't find my bag of chia seeds. I know they are here somewhere... couldn't find it to save my life. So this past week I picked up another bag. I just went to put it back in the pantry and there right in front of me - I mean right there - was another bag of chia seeds. wtf! I took a pic of the garden window to show the orchid I got for my birthday last year and that other plant with two flower clusters. Decided to add the chia to the pic...
Got Chia Seeds?
Got Chia Seeds?
I'm in for another fabulously sober weekend!
Welcome aboard ICanDoBetter and Optimist!
Good to see you again, lolipa! What are you planting this spring? I need some inspiration!
Love the theme, Ken! I feel like I'm finally past just surviving and have definitely moved into the thriving phase! Feels good to actually look forward to the day instead of dreading every minute till my next drink. The peace of mind and freedom sobriety has brought me is priceless. Thank you SR and weekenders for being such a huge part of my freedom! Ring Ring!

Greetings everyone!
Welcome on the bus Optimist4ever57 and ICanDoBetter!!!
Welcome back Lolipa - good luck for your 2nd weekend.
Nice pic LB.
Just had a bowel of M&S Chicken and super grain soup, soaked up with a few slices of white bread with melted cheese on the crust, smothered with butter. Souptastic. I may experience the dreaded carb induced afternoon lull soon that I sometimes try to aid with Mr Coffee.

Thanks Ken - hello!
I remember those early days here on SR as well. I don't look back at some of my early posts because I was very combative. I came here for support, but ended up picking fights. I was angry and looking for an outlet. But I was also hurting, struggling, and unsure how to proceed in sobriety....
Being in sobriety was like being in an algebra class. I didn't get it and had never been taught how it works. Watching others move forward only added to my frustration and I wanted to throw in the towel.
In truth, the only thing I needed at that time was sober days. One after another, they piled up. All of a sudden I was 2 months sober. 3 months. 6 months. Now I wasn't a "beginner", and I started feeling like I could actually do it. I'd gained experience and knowledge simply by coming here, and living sober. I didn't realize it at the time, but every sober day was helping me master this new puzzle. For everyone feeling confused, frustrated, and like they just "don't get it", we've been there!
Sober days breed sober ways!
