Welcome to the forum, and make it happen, bud.

Here's a couple of threads you might find useful --

You can do this, bud. We can do this.

thank you so much thumpalumpacus. I believe we can do this.

Rock it out. You can do it. Focus on the pride you will feel once you have 24 hours sober! Speaking for myself, I often focus on the negative, failure if I drink, etc. But we have to focus on the positive. If you get 24 hours sober that would be amazing! Do it and when you do, please pat yourself on the back very much!!! It is not easy, but you can do it! And when you do, remind yourself of how much you accomplished.

Thank you for such a great message suavebum! I fully intend on being able to congratulate myself on 24 hours. Before i have set the bar too high; a week, a month, never again. Right now 24 hours is my goal and I will go from there. ☺️

Welcome hun

You've come to the right place!

One day at a time xx

I am new to recovery, and I am sure others can offer more advice. I am heading into Detox for the first time ever tomorrow. About 12 hours from now. But, every hour is a victory. And 24 hours is a huge victory! But then please focus on the next 24 and treat it as big of a victory as the first 24. Because, it really is. One step at a time they say, right? Well, how about one 24 hour period a time. You should be proud of each hour you go without using/drinking. I am not expert. But I am someone that cares about others, and even though you're a stranger, I care about ya. So continue to pat yourself on the back for every little victory :) And if you hit a setback, get back on here and talk to us. I don't know why, but I feel very comfortable here, very safe here. And I don't care why I don't know why. I am just glad that this is a safe place for both of us!

Sometimes you have to go day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, I know that I certainly have. Welcome and big propers for deciding to give it up!!

Your words are very encouraging and reassuring thank you! I have been far too hard on myself for 'failing' and so it creates a vicious circle. I care about you too! I'm very excited now to move forward and recover.
Absolute best of luck for your detox; you got this! Thank you so much for a wonderful welcome.

Welcome to the family. :) Every sobriety journey starts with day one. It can be rough at first but it gets better, the longer you stay sober.

Thank you so much least. ☺️ I'm not afraid of sobriety anymore as i'm pretty certain it feels a thousand better than I normally do day in and day out!
