Went to the doctor today
Hi all,
Today (day 21) I went to the doctor. I want to know if the alcohol has done any damage. Fortunately the doctor agreed that it's unlikely, it may be a fatty liver at best, but I don't show any signs of anything serious.
I told him how much I used to drink (which is a LOT) and he was cool about it. Professional. Just another patient reporting their problem. That made me feel very comfortable, even though I wasn't nervous to begin with. But it gave me some extra comfort and trust that I was in the right hands.
He gave me a form for blood tests. He's not taking any chances. He checked a couple of boxes, as well as, the one for a FULL blood examination. How you can have a full bood examination and then some extra tests, I don't know though. But it's fine by me. I didn't want to ask, I felt that he knew what he was doing.
So, next step is to go to the hospital. When the tests come back clean, it's all ok. Otherwise I need to make a new appointment.
Not sure when exactly I'm going to the hospital. It's not urgent and to be honest, I want to wait until Friday next week or maybe the Monday after that. Just to let my body recover more. I don't want to have abnormal results that will recover if I give it a little more time. It would save a lot of trouble.
My plan is to wait at least 30 sober days in total before I go. Which is in 9 days already anyway. And, that way I can combine it with meeting up with a friend that works there.
Or I will go tomorrow. I'll see.
Other news. I still can't handle coffee. My brain overreacts to it and I get really anxious. And I had 5 cups today... I think my brain needs to recover to normal a lot more. Which is fine. I can live on water.
So that's it for the day. I'm still walking a lot and am going for a quick walk again now.

Awesome job Mike! Stick with it! I am just past 2 months...Still get the crazy body aches and constantly feel like I am fighting something , but I am not dizzy as heck anymore. Just some body aches and tired as all get out...It's to be expected I guess...
Keep at it...
Keep at it...
Well done on three weeks! You may as well go and get the tests over with. Not much is going to change that will make a difference in the next week or so. My doctor said it was unlikely I would see any kind of major change in my results until I was sober for six months so one week isn't going to influence much (at least as far as the liver numbers are concerned). Then it's behind you and you can check that one off your list. Keep up the great work!
