Leb - 14months sober

Hi everyone.
Just checking in to let you know I'm still going well. I'm able to be more around people drinking without any feelings of missing out on something. In fact I'm enjoying watching others while not making a big idiot of myself! Really not missing alcohol at all and no serious cravings at all.

However I have been lax with my diet. After initially loosing some weight when I stopped drinking I am now putting it on. I have found a sweet tooth which was hidden when I drank and smoked.

This year will concentrate on good food and exercise. Feeling great though. No more anxiety and depression, mood swings and anger all levelled out, and confidence up.

Kia Kaha, stay strong , together we can do this. - leb x
:thanks

I'm right there with you. I developed a wicked sweet tooth and told myself that for the first year of sobriety, I wouldn't be too hard on myself and allow the sweets. After all, at least it's not drinking... But, a year has come and gone and it's time to buckle down on the diet and exercise part.

Congratulations leb, that's great! I think a sweet tooth is pretty common in early sobriety, I certainly had one. I think our body craves a replacement for the sugar in the alcohol it was constantly fed. Giving into sweets beats the heck out of giving in to alcohol, though!

Congrats leb. That's great.

Have to say that ice cream has become my best friend since I quit. It happens.
