Sad side bar to drinking
Well it's been a little bit since I posted.
Ended day 19. Had to look at calendar. Started at halftime of super bowl. I hate the day counting of sone life but get it. Many life changes but feel good and proud. I hope not to drink again but know I won't today. Slogan to live by. Have great support including SR. AA seems to get a bit drowning with any of the same woe is me tales. At some point folks just need to decide and move forward and let past be the war.
Side not to my drinking. While on the drink I neglected health. Since stopped I've lost 19 pounds and bp returning to normal after being as high as 168/111 early wd. I did have snagging cough that became prevelant a week ago that I would have ignore in a stupor.
After coughing blood went to pcp. A Ct scan and biopsy later a lung abscess was discovered. Frightening ordeal. Definitely thought cancer but condition is totally treatable and curable. One of the top reasons for a lung abcesses are aspirations that clog lung during an alcohol blackout. If ignored can be dangerous.
Embarrassing but yet another wake up call that drink is posionous and dangerous for many including me. She. We stop our body does talk to us.
Feeling great. Thanks for being here!

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

It's amazing the little problems sobriety allows us to notice. And since we can now notice them, we can now fix them. Glad to hear you saw the doc and got to the bottom of it. I'll be doing the same here soon with a few things.
Henry,
I am with you.
Booze is poison. It is addictive. It is relatively cheap. It is easy to get. It is legal.
The booze companies advertise that it turns a boring night, day, or life into a party. It marketed for celebration, relaxation, thirst quenching etc.
What is not, yet, marketed is that it causes brain damage, high bp, diabetes, pancreas damage and a laundry list of other things. All of which dissappear, for the most, when we stop drinking.
Thank God for SR. We all have a fighters chance to eliminate the addictive poison from our lives.
I already have explained to my 12 year old what booze does. I was getting drunk at 12. Not every day, just when I could get it. It was obviously harder to get back then.
Now we know better.
Thanks.
