I tried

I tried my best due to people on this forum being so supportive and almost made it to one month sober. I recently took a trip and when I came back I was sad that my life would be routine once again that so I resorted to alcohol. I since started drinking more and got a DUI. Thank god my job is still safe but if I view myself objectively I can just see myself deteriorating. Nothing good comes out of drinking but its such a difficult addiction to shake. Guess its time for professional help.

I'm sorry about the DUI but glad you, and others, are safe.

It does sound like time to come up with a plan that will work for you. You can find ways to get through days when it's hard. We're here for you.

If I were in your situation, I would go to as many AA meetings as possible and keep a written record. There is usually someone at meetings who will sign an attendance sheet that you can show to the judge.

@coldfusion that's very good advice. Seriously you guys here were the #1 support system I had when I quit for the longest time in 5+ years. Keep doing what you do.

I too would advise getting help to kick your alcohol addiction. No, it's not easy to quit, but it is simple: just don't drink.

As Anna said, time to come up with a plan that will work for you.

You said that you were sad that your life would be routine again. Perhaps you should look for ways to change your life for the better.

Today is a new day. Tomorrow is another day. If you can decide to commit to it, throw everything you have at it until sobriety feels so as routine as your addiction used to be. Don't give up. Keep on trying... I hope you can find the help you need. I know for me, just AA is not enough. I rely on AA, my sponsor, my addictions counselor, sober apps, soberrecovery, and other AA members to keep me on the right path. I'm also going to be dealing with a therapist soon.

Dee often mentions it, and I know it has really helped me this go round... have you thought about making a recovery plan for yourself?

welcome back dttttttt

If you're worried about your life being routine, change it.
Drinking to make a boring life tolerable is a strategy doomed to failure.

Think about what you'd like your life to be like and then go out and chase that dream
