Working on 24 hours
Hi all,
I am back to recovery and new to this group. I had been sober about 6 years ago for just over one year and it was the best, healthiest, most balanced time of my life so far. I was then encouraged to drink again by my non-alcoholic boyfriend at the time and stupidly I finally gave in and the madness started again. Not all at once. And so I believed I had beat the demons and that booze wasn't a problem for me any longer. Madness.
Anyhow I've been drinking again for about 5 years and it continues to get worse and worse. I'll manage a few days or weeks and then inevitably I'll have a craving and back I go. I'm drinking alone, in secret, and large amounts. No one knows the severity but me and I'm scared. I feel out of control and I don't really know what to do.
I'm hoping to find some support and maybe learn from you all what's working for you. Thanks for reading.
