12 Days

12 days sober. Still trying to beat the flu. But it doesn't bother me.

It's so wonderful to wake up sober every day!

How long have you had the flu?

Indeed. It's like a slave awakening to find his shackles and chains no longer bind him to his master, but have been removed.

This is precisely how you were meant to be; you were meant to be free. This simple, though all too often elusive truth, defines us as human beings. Sobriety is nothing short of a re-humanization of the self.

Thanks for sharing your strength and good news.

Great job, Mike! Dealing with the flu is much easier than the flu and a hangover. Keep it up, I'm pulling for you.

Didn't keep track exactly, but I think about 5 days.

12 days is fantastic, when you get over the flu you'll really feel more of the benefit and good things that come with being sober. Good going. Get well soon.

Coincidentally I just looked at a news site and it says that the flu epidemic over here seems to have reached its peak.

That I got sick in the first place did have me thinking though. I usually don't get sick. I think my immune system hadn't recovered yet. It showed my how risky alcohol is. If it messes with your immune system, you're in trouble.

Thanks for the card Soberpotamus, that's sweet of you.

I have this corny saying "Sobriety has its own rewards program". But its pretty much true.

That's not corny. I like it!

On top of the flu, detox creates flu like symptoms.

The double wammy.

Since I quit, I have pretty much been cold free.

Worth quitting forever right there.

Thanks. Fortunately the flu is clearing up. Although it might fluctuate for a couple of day still. But today was pretty good.

As I said before, it was a blessing. It helped me go through a couple of days without drinking even being able to be appealing.

Still have a fever though, but it's gradually going down. Maybe tomorrow I'll take an extra day of rest. Or... I won't be able to resist logging in here.
