It's me again...
I've been here before and I'm back again. What can I say, it's been a few months and it's going better, The more I think about what I really am trying to change about myself, there better my plans seem to go at obtaining them. I think I'm ready for the next step and go to a group or gathering to talk to other people that have the same issues. Just not sure where to start. Any suggestions? I'm really struggling with marijuana and alcohol. I am maintaining, but that's not what I want. I want to be able to talk to people again, converse and be a part of people's worlds, build a real legacy for myself. I'm done with denial.
We have lots of ideas for plans and what you can do:

Hi Hollowx!
Most towns have AA meetings. NA meetings are probably more open to sharing on a variety of addictions. Do you have any reservations about going to an AA meeting?

I wouldn't mind going to an AA meeting, but it's not just alcohol so would be right to go to just AA?
"The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking," according to the AA "12 Traditions." But different groups interpret this differently in terms of how open they are to sharing about other addictions. In a city, you should be able to find an AA meeting where you feel comfortable.
You might also want to look into SMART meetings, which are available in a few areas. Also, "Celebrate Recovery" meetings are quite common now if you prefer a Christian approach.
I like my local NA meeting, and use NA literature for my recovery studies, although I mostly attend AA meetings. And my wife doesn't go to meetings at all and is just fine, although she did do ninety meetings in ninety days with me when we first quit drinking.
