refocusing

I am over my pity party now. Last week I did make it to day 3 and then drank that night. I posted about how it was a bad week to get sober because my mom was going to be staying with me for a few days and I was having oral surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed. I do not take back what I said about last week being a horrible first week for sobriety. Excuse or not, it was rough. The surgery its self was not the hard part. I was on laughing gas and anesthesia so it was not painful and it was over quickly. It was the next few days that were hard to get through. The pain of healing is the worst part. I slept a ton and my mouth ached after eating and I had to go into work on Saturday, just 2 days after the surgery.

But I got through it and I'm on the other side. Just like I said I would, I am coming up with a new plan now. Its time to get focused and try again.

I will try to make tomorrow my day 1. I cant sleep tonight... I would love to be able to make an 8am meeting before work but since I am not getting any sleep, I will be content if I can get to work on time tomorrow, work my full shift, and come home and not drink and put myself to bed sober. If I can do those things I will have had a productive day. So that is my goal.

I know there's a lot of competing demands on our time in early recovery but I hope you'll put your recovery to the forefront IJM.

If you don't you're putting everything else at risk anyway.
Ask me how I know, yeah?

Keeping the plug in the jug is important.
Good luck,

There will always be excuses to drink. You've got to accept that drinking is no longer an option. You will stay sober when you want to be sober more than you want to drink.

I hope you can make this be the day....and if you can make that meeting I think it would be a great idea. As Dee said, if you don't make sobriety your number one priority, it won't be.
