I have my 24 hour chip and also my 1 month chip- they're in my wallet at all times, and I pull them out several times a day as a reminder of every day I've done. 3 weeks until I get my next one :-)

I've probably received 40 to 50 chips over the years.

Taking into consideration :

Relapsed and returned to the program more than a few times.

At times I would receive tokens from more than one meeting.

I'm grateful for the (two) 8 year tokens I now have.

I like the idea of commemoration, but I'm not in AA...so, I just have 6 years worth of tattoos...

I bought a years worth of chips online and my wife gives them to me every month that I earn them. I have a little treasure box my kids got me for Christmas that I call my sobriety box. I put them in there.

These represent a nice moment my wife and I share together. I don't like going to meetings, but I do believe in some of the tenants of AA so we celebrate my sobriety at home.

I have a 6 month chip and a great story of how I received it. There were none available at the meeting, all out. Then a guy got up and went into another room (I thought). He actually went home and returned before the meeting ended with his 6 month chip and gave it to me. How beautiful is that?

They're best when handed down to others.

I have mine up to 2 years. Took a 3 year bday last year but it was at a meeting that did not actually give out chips! I plan to get a 4 year chip this coming May.
