Hi & Welcome Emandm :)

Emandm 02-12-2016 11:57 AM

Overwhelmed by the welcome. With utmost sincerity I ask this...

Why do you care about someone who is, in actuality, a stranger?

SoberLeigh 02-12-2016 12:11 PM

We have been where you are, Emandm, and understand where you want to be.

We care and want to help you find sobriety.

Because we've all been where you are and know how low that feels. There is no greater love or more pure a love than the love one drunk feels for another. We share in a common peril and we find recovery together. Like shipmates after a horrific shipwreck...we find ourselves all desperately clinging to the life rafts together.

Yep. That.

And, on a selfish note, helping others also reinforces my own sobriety. If I'm having a tough day, dwelling on it, or trying to exert my own will on things that are beyond my control is invariably a lot less effective than focussing on helping someone else.

It's wonderful to have you with us, Emandm. Most of us are all too familiar with the train to nowhere. :) You'll fit in just fine - welcome.
