60 day VICTORY!
60 day VICTORY!
60 days ago I awoke in a sweat, panicked and hungover. Haven't touched it sense. Mentally and physically I'm much better. Some other things have improved as well. I'm taking advantage of a business opportunity that been right before my face for ten years. Who knows where it will lead. Without the lead shoes of alcohol I'm going to find out. I've had zero chance of getting another DUI-so that's good. I'm almost done with my weekends in jail, yep DUI. I've learned some swell jailhouse terms which I suppose makes me "hip" or "fly" with the younger folks. Well, maybe all of it hasn't been grand but I guess I need that last DUI to quit drinking. In that context it has been a blessing.
Chr,
You have the winners edge. Love it.
Never drinking again.
The few minutes of euphoric stupor are not worth the hours of slow aching tortuous hangover, lack of sleep/motivation.....etc..
ntm.... the chances of destroying our and/someone else's life e.g. dui...domestic incident.... no longer makes sense to me...
My alkyl buddy came into work today... with a rather large scrape/contusion on his eye/temple. Says he walked into a door or something. He has scraps along the right arm to boot. No door does that....
Dude needs to quit...I think he has a death wish...

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

This is huge. I'm so happy for you!!! Go for that business opportunity. With the booze behind you, you can make the future anything you want!
Congratulations on the 60 days! Full respect to you for standing up and copping those weekends in jail without complaint. It cannot have been easy. You have a fantastic attitude, chrcarlson. Really inspiring.
Well, gotta go to jail tonight. Two more times and I'm done with it. It will be nice to have my weekends back. The experience is so debasing/dehumanizing. I know most people want to see DUI's severely punished. The food in jail literally stinks. Most of the people are low life's. Last time I found a flea on my face. One guy said he got head lice. There are other things. So yes, the punishment is excellent and should well please some. I was ok with it the first 2 or 3 weekends but it's becoming a real beat down. For at least the last month the only time I really want a drink is on Monday-after getting out. I wonder why that is??? We can't have people driving drunk but what use is it to beat a dead horse? I'm not sure the answer but clearly there is a huge lack of understanding of alcoholism and what make us drink. I'm trying to deal with the anger but how is putting me in a small room with low life's that fart, snore and have insects living on them helpful? I'm "getting what I deserve?" I makes me pray Everyone "gets what they deserve." Sorry for the rant but it's how I feel today. Just a bit of weakness on my part.
Anyway 2 more weekends and it's all just a bad memory. 63 days sober and I could have drank most of them in spite of any court monitoring. Before quitting Dec 9 I spent hours reading about their tests/procedures. Probably a sign of my alcoholism

I'm sure it is difficult, but you can do this. Two more weekends and you never, ever have to set foot into a jail again. Start envisioning three weekends from now and what you are planning to do, even if it is just keeping in. You've got this!!

So glad that you have learned from your mistakes. I had one DUI in 2002 and didn't decide to quit drinking until 2014... I wish I had done so earlier. I went to jail for a night and it was horrible. I am the only person in my family that has been to it. My record has been expunged but the fact still haunts me.
