Day 14!
I'm sober on day 14! I'm very proud of myself.
Mostly because I did find myself in a situation where I was in a bar for happy hour and just ordered water!
I visiting my likely grad school out of state. Stayed with a current grad student and was able to see all they had to offer. I'm very excited to be accepted there and it is a great program in my field!
I did not really have a choice to back out of visiting and did not want to either. Last night, all the grad students wanted to go to a local bar for happy hour. I admit that I was pretty nervous on what they would say when I ordered just water. But I went anyways. It was fun to see the town! When we ordered drinks at the bar, I simply said I wanted water. One person asked me about it and I told a little white lie that I was just not drinking to get back in shape and what not. While that is true, that's obviously not the whole story. They left it at that and no one questioned me further! I had a great time talking with them and we then went somewhere else for a fabulous dinner!
It kind of amazed me that no one really bugged me about not drinking as I always thought people would. It was a relief really! I guess in my mind, they were going to hound me about it but that was not the case!
Needless to say, it's a very good day!

Congratulations! Two weeks is awesome. It just gets better from here. When people ask me why I'm not drinking (if they even notice since I usually get tonic and lime), I just say I'm not drinking for my health. It's the truth and 99% of the time nobody pushes it any further. Keep up the great work!
