Urge Surfing: Thanks Dee74!
Dee74, you recommended urge surfing meditation as a tool for beating cravings.
In desperation, I tried it as I am trying to get my first 24 hours of sobriety.
When I started the guided meditation, I gave my urge to drink a rating of 4 out of 10. As the urge began to diminish, I was overcome with a powerful emotion (self compassion) and started to cry, but I was still in the meditation and observed myself having the emotional experience. The craving went down to zero!
This is a major breakthrough. Thanks Dee!
