Day 40 and Frustrated!

Day 40 and I知 really struggling. I致e started drinking caffeine and I知 afraid this is developing into something where I知 trying to replace that with alcohol and not getting the same effect. I know what everyone is already is going to say in that I should quit the caffeine but I don稚 want to. Life has been throwing a lot of little things at me lately and I知 really irritable. Someone passing me on the right, my so called sponsor hanging up on me, going to a meeting today and not getting anything out of it. Frustrated!!!

Early recovery is tough. New territory for you, comtnman. Don't let it knock you off your path.

Don't give up! Caffeine is my saviour too! But also this new kale juice stuff, am slowly replacing the caffeine for the green stuff and now preferring it on a morning.

Congrats on 40 days sober! Early recovery can be a bit of a bumpy ride for a while. Hang on, it gets better.

Thanks everyone!
A lot of little things adding up today and I’ve got that stupid mindset of thinking that I’m never going to get to drink again. I think I’ve got to go over Step 1 again because I have to not drink today and that’s it. I went to a meeting but it didn’t to anything for me. I think I have to go to another meeting.

Why quit the coffeine? I quit alcohol & weed 8 months ago on the same day. And I still drink coffee...

Why make it harder than necessary?

I’m on the fence when it comes to caffeine. I’m not addicted to it but I feel like I’m trying to get some kind of effect from it similar to alcohol. If that makes any sense? I know alcohol is a depressant and caffeine is a stimulant but I feel like I’m drinking more and more caffeine to get quote “high”.

I think that a lot of the satisfaction of drinking any beverage is from hand-to-mouth action. Consumption in any form is soothing.

Try tea or seltzer water if caffeine concerns you.

Caffeine really adds to my anxiety and irritability. Two cups a day of half-caf was all I could handle in the first year of sobriety. Yeah I wanted that buzz, but it wasn't worth it. I'm up to two regular cups a day now, but I'm not still in brain-healing mode I guess.

Maybe try cutting back just to ease your discomfort. Or drink decaf.

I drank a lot of seltzer mixed with juice or herbal teas in early sobriety.
