Finally taking the problem seriously!

Hi everyone, hope you're having a great day.

I'm in my mid twenties, from the UK and have quit drinking determinedly for the first time in my life just 29 days ago. I've quit before twice but it was always half hearted.

Probably the realisation came around three years ago - I was working long shifts in a rubbish job and found myself drinking while there - this eventually led to drinking in the morning before shifts.

I remember reading threads here where people mentioned waking up to drink as a kind of 'next step' and it absolutely terrified me! I've thrown away education, work, money and relationships but know i'm very lucky to still have good friends and a loving family.

Anyway, hello and best of luck to everyone.

Buzzkillington.

Hi BK, Right there with ya. Once I started to want a drink in the morning to stop the shakes I knew that I needed to do something.

Great job on 29.

Welcome Buzz! You found a great place for encouragement. (I love your name too.)

I wish I'd realized in my 20's that I had to stop. I just kept going with it, allowing the destruction & chaos to continue. This won't happen to you. :)
