47 days sober, need advice
I haven't had a drop to drink in 47 days. At first it was hard and there were cravings and I couldn't sleep, but it gradually leveled out. I was even getting a good 7 hours of sleep at night.
But then all of a sudden BAM! These last few days have been strong cravings and sleep has become an impossibility.
I've only slept 2 hours in the past 2 days. I tried to take a nap earlier and nothing. No caffiene. I've been drinking tension tamer tea and sleepy time tea with valarian and chamomile tea. I've also tried over the counter sleep aids and ginseng supplements. My bedroom is dark and cold (optimal sleeping conditions for me). I've tried reading myself to sleep. Exercising. Everything.
I also suffer from restless leg syndrome. I have a physical job where I'm on my feet for 8 hours + a day and I can work out and I'll still get it. In the past the only cure I found for it was alcohol.
At this point drinking almost seems medicinal. My addiction is telling me I could grab a couple of bottles of wine and then sleep like a baby. Which is true. But I'm not going to.
My resolve to remain sober is as strong as ever and I'm not going to let this discomfort make me throw away the last 47 days. I fought hard to get here and I'll keep fighting. I'd just like a little relief.
If any of you have any other sleep inducing suggestions I'm open to hear them. Thanks.

Hi Josh...Firstly congratulations on 47 days sober...that's fantastic.
I manage to fall asleep listening to an audio book on my phone...that way I can enjoy listening to a good book without having to have a light on and eyes open. There's even some free sites you can use. Good luck x

NewJosh, congratulations on 47 days sober. Good job!
I'm stuck with Restless leg syndrome also and it's so annoying. I've never found anything that worked reliably. I pace the floor.

Yes, I've been taking Magnesium also. I just recently started taking it a couple of weeks ago and was really excited when I read it might help with restless leg. Unfortunately it hasn't in my case. I'm continuing to take it before bed, though, for the other health benefits.

Guys remember to share your experience of what worked for you - thats fine - but please shy clear of recommendations, as that would be against our medical advice rule

Hi Josh
as with anything what's worked for others may not work for you so it might be a good idea to run any supplements past your Dr just to make sure it will be of benefit to you.
A little tonic water (the real stuff with quinine) helps my RLS.
Have you checked out this link - if it rings any bells it has some handy suggestions in there:

Hi Josh-
Congrats on the 47 days; that's great!
I have downloaded apps that play 'relaxing sounds'....waterfalls, ticking clocks, rainstorms etc. It helps me when I'm tossing and turning. You'll get through this!
