Just checking in after 20 sober days

I havent been on the forums as much as I thought I'd be. I've been quite busy with work and my schooling, actually, and that has been helping with my recovery too.

In the last few days, I've gotten 4 HUGE pieces of bad news and setbacks. My AV has been SCREAMING at me to the point where I literally wanted to scream myself. But I pushed through it and I'm still sober.. I had to take a midday nap today to get rid of it. But it's gone.. for now. Day 20 is over. After tomorrow, I will officially have three weeks of sobriety under my belt.

Hope you all are doing well!

Congratulations wicket!

It's easy to think "a glass won't hurt," but yield, and the first thing one knows a bottle isn't enough.

Keep at it.

Well done for valuing your long term recovery over temporary relief. It gives you a clue to your triggers as well (always good to know). I hope the news doesn't turn out as bad as you thought.

Thank you everyone.

LesPaul: How right you are..I'm pretty honest with myself about it. Every time I get the urge, I know I'm just going to end up drunk for days if I fall backward. The first one isn't even an option.

Soberwolf I've been doing well overall. I've definitely noticed the big and small perks from being sober and they keep coming. How about yourself?

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Way to go on keeping your priorities straight! :-)

I see you're in MD. Enjoyed the storm during my stay there 1/22-1/24. Great workout shoveling my host's driveway!

Keep on rolling. I'm at 21 days today and there are already nice bennies. And we're told that things get even better yet once we get a few months out. We must stay on the horse and find out for ourselves!
