back again

I've been especially bad with drinking the past few months. Drinking before work to deal with the hangover, on break, then to excess after work. I'm wasting a ton of money and have next to no self esteem lately. I'm pretty much the guy around the bars that always gets stinking drunk. This has to end. I'm going to my first AA meeting tomorrow with a friend who was just like me and got sober recently. I've been reading a lot of posts on here in the past few days. Big surprise, a lot of people here have the exact same stories as me! I also have an anxiety disorder so the drinking is hurting bad. 2 days so far.

Congrats on your two days. It gets better.

Group attendance is helpful for me as well, as is the recommendation to formulate and execute a plan for your sobriety.

Keep at it, bud.

Looks like you've been fighting this at least since you joined in Dec 2012. Time to make it stick. Don't hold anything back. Do whatever it takes. If you've tried a lot of times on your own and it didn't work, get help.

Gotta win this one.

Don't worry so much about it. You don't have to do anything but sit and listen if that's all you want to do..

I don't know, I usually avoid my problems, maybe going actually makes it real for me. I mean it's already very real but that's all I can think of.

Hi Joey - I'm glad you're back with us. We all understand like no one else can. I predict the meeting won't be scary at all - it could be a huge help. Congrats on your 2 days - we know how hard it is.

Good to see you again JoeyG1000

Please do follow through with finding an AA meeting. As scary as it is nit's not as scary and drinking like you have been for another 5, 10, 15 years....

If we want change we need to make changes

Welcome back! Go to the meeting and just listen. If you want to, introduce yourself. If asked to speak, just say you're there to listen.

Two days sober is a good start to a better life.

Right now, today, it's real enough to kill you or someone else. AA is a meeting, for cryin' out loud. You can go to a meeting.

You need to quit being afraid of nonexistent boogeymen like AA, and get afraid of the REAL dragon that is after you -- alcoholism.

Yup time to actively do something about it. I hated the idea of AA and disliked being there just as much. But it wasn't until then that I actually started to execute my plan the way I should have been all along.

You won't conquer your fears until you first confront them.
