7 weeks

Well, it's been 7 weeks since I've had a drink.

I started doing some online courses which have been taking up a lot of my time. The courses have a lot of philosophy in them, and I was talking to my office mate about it today.

I said, well...reading Heidegger is better than drinking. He said, "I don't know. For you, I think both would be a good combination"

It threw me off. He's seen me in pretty bad shape (emotionally). One day he escorted me to my car while I cried uncontrollably about the regret that I had for my drunken actions. I was so full of self loathing that I just wanted to die. It seems strange that he would forget those moments so easily.

He also admits to having a drinking problem. At first he was impressed with my resolve to break the habit. I guess he's board of my sober stories. Oh well. It's much less drama for me. I haven't missed it.
I'm thinking of going sober dancing on Thursday. I love dancing. I hope I still love it sober.

Sounds like you're doing well gega.

With all due respect to your friend, it sounds like he has his own demons...

Heidegger and Heineken do not mix well IMO

I'm sorry he said that and surprised he didn't have more tact. As others have said this was his comment and his choice, how you hear it is up to you. Has more to do with him. Enjoy the philosophy. Love hearing about people taking courses on top of working.
