snowy in NY

Well we are getting our first big snow storm in southern NY right now. Not so long ago I would use this as an excuse to go on a bender.

I would go to the store before the snow started and load up on beer and whiskey. I always felt good too because the stores were full of normal people so I blended do in. I figured if everyone else is loading up I could justify getting even more. Usually on other days I would have a bit of shame going to the store wondering what the clerk thought since I came in so often.

Today I woke up, made eggs and am drinking water. No hangover and it feels great.

sva, I remember doing the same.

I'm so happy we don't have to live like that anymore.

Roger that sva. Of course I would have hit the liquor store and stocked up on a week's worth of booze to be prepared in case they shut down. That meant I'd have MORE booze on-hand than normal, which of course meant I'd drink it all up. F-ing crazy for sure. Thank God - not this time.

That was me to a T. Weather influenced my drinking a lot.
I'm so glad you didn't go back to the old ways. You should be proud of yourself.

I think we had one really big snow last year. Like the kind where the snowplow didn't hit our subdivision until the evening after the snow stopped. I had my driveway and car cleared off just in case the plow came in time for me to get to the liquor store by the 11pm close time.

Street was cleared at 9:30pm and I was on the road!

The store was closed.
Who in the world is going to be going to the liquor store at 9pm after a major snowstorm?

Doh.

Looks to be about two feet right now. I shoveled but it seems to have mostly blown back due to the wind. If I could post pictures I would. Anyone else in the NY metro area stuck in the snow?

I am pretty sure I have been in that situation before. I always got really nervous in the race to get to the store before it closed. I would be so upset if it was closed, it was if I was going to run out of air or something.

I did the same thing. I wonder why it was even more fun to get drunk during a blizzard?
I guess maybe because it felt justified, lol.

Shovelling with a hangover sucks way more than just shovelling!

OH yeah, same with mowing the lawn. Done both and surprised I never passed out, felt like I was going to many times.

I think you hit the nail on the head, we didn't have to feel any guilt since "everyone" was drinking.
