Blizzard on the East Coast
The bf finally made it home from working all weekend and being snowed in. The first thing he did after hugging me was go out and snow blow his driveway and side walk in front of the house. Took him all of 30 minutes. Meanwhile I shoveled a path from the deck to the driveway 4 times yesterday to keep it clear so he could get in the house. Maybe I should figure out how to use the snow blower .
I was trying to keep my cars and walkway clear during the height of the storm so that I might make it to work the next day. It was a losing battle and I was getting cold, tired and angry. I'm nine months sober, but had a sudden urge out of nowhere to have a big ole mid morning rum and Coke. That made me even angrier. . I jumped into my idling car and screamed a few choice words at the top of my lungs. It had been months since I had even thought about a drink. The AV is always waiting for a HALT moment I guess. I gathered my composure again and rode the urge out easily once I realized what was happening. It was scary, how just for a brief moment , the thought of throwing it all away had quickly crossed my mind. Glad everyone else stayed safe and sober!
(Washington DC area) Local news says that next storm might be Wednesday and Thursday of next week.....definitely will get colder next week, though! (Just looked at a few forecasts, seems they really don't know what is going on). Tomorrow, some rain may fall.....
It's still a mess out there and many people are stranded at home, as we were warned earlier.
Stay safe and warm!

Well, the plow has not yet made an appearance, but I was able to get out of my neighborhood so that I could get to group tonight. Tomorrow morning could be dicey if all of that slushed up snow freezes in the wee hours and there has still been no plow. And we don't know if the subway will be running above ground yet.
I am very fortunate to have the latitude to call a work from home day if needed.
I hear rain for tomorrow evening, which could add another interesting twist depending on what the thermostat does.
It looks like maybe neighbor-guy got home, but he must've been whipped because there is just one cut from the snowblower on either side of his driveway.
Thanks to those who have congratulated us on our sobriety through this. I have definitely been much more on edge than I would like to be, but never seriously considered drinking. Day 15 tomorrow.
Speaking of which, SiS - did you make it home?

That's better, SoberLeigh - I'm hearing you now.
I think every single street in my town has been plowed now with the exception of my little section of my little subdivision. No matter. We are dealing with single-lane traffic quite well, for the most part.
And it will all melt by the time the trucks make it through - save the HUGE piles of snow people piled in the street next to their driveways. Too bizarre.
Alright, ready for spring now.
