I told my friend about this site but she is to shy this is not a recovery question but u guys give good advice she is 25 and is inlove with her second cousin which is 39 they have been sexually active in secret for two years and they both love each other she wants to know what to do continue as a secret or end it all together she said she has never been so happy in her life even tho it is a secret

I don't think there's any laws in the US against second cousins marrying, but I'm an Aussie....

I'm not sure what the family objections would be.

If you have to lie about something it is usually destructive. That would be the lie and what comes from from it. They are both adults and don't require the approval of others. Keeping it secret might add some excitement but in the long term what kind of relationship would that be?

The happiest and closest couple I ever knew were my Auntie Margaret and Uncle Ted. They were married, but they were also brother and sister by adoption. I'm sure that must have raised some eyebrows when they announced their courtship (as it would have been called at the time), but they were together and happy for almost 80 years as a couple, so I'm really glad that they decided to risk those raised eyebrows.
