Its time to quit again
Hi Brian -- as a non believer, I recently started attending AA meetings. I too was uncomfortable with the whole god thing, but rather than focus on what makes me uncomfortable, I've found that simply listening to the experiences of the others lets me know that I'm not alone. I've also found that my disbelief doesn't get in the way of me absorbing practical advice, nor am I assigning responsibility anywhere else but on my own shoulders.
I'm pretty sure there are more nonbelievers in there than might seem to be the case, anyway.

Day 5 today, I did go to an AA meeting last night actually 2 an open and a closed and I created an entirely new thread about it, needless to say it is not for me although I did enjoy the experience for what it was.

Congrats on Day 5 Brian. Good job on trying the AA meeting. I am not a regular AA member but I did go to meetings pretty often early on because I felt the were still helpful.
Any plans to try any other recovery methods out? Theres AVRT of courses for a self paced program. Not sure if there are any Smart, LifeRing or other recovery groups in your area, but it would be worth checking out. A sense of community in early recovery is essential in my opinion, whether that community be in person, virtual or both.

Day 8 today. I have been actively using the Rational Recovery (AVRT) method for a few days now and it really make sense to me so I am going to stick with that for now. I much prefer the self paced non-meeting types of programs as I don't want a lifelong commitment/addiction to recovery meetings.
Thanks,
Brian
Thanks,

Hi Brian,
Glad you are doing so well. I am on Day 24 today after a few stretches of sobriety over the past four years. I am determined to make this one stick.
Let's both make this time the last time!!!

Just updating my thread as I use them as a record/journal for future use.
Today is day 12 and I'm doing fine, still no cravings as I have been keeping very busy, but I am also ready for any cravings/AV nonsense with the teachings of AVRT.
