Physical Reminders

Just curious - do any of you use physical reminders to help keep you on track/accountable to stay sober? My wife gave me a bracelet that has my day 1 date on it and the saying 'one day at a time'. I wear it all the time to help keep me focused.

Just wondering if anyone else uses something like that or a necklace/tattoo, etc...

None for me, however, my dogs' and cats' good health and well being are daily reminders for me of how good sobriety is.

Nope, but that's cool if it works for you.

I've heard about people carrying their AA white chip wherever they go.

None for me, but if it works for you, I say do it.

No, but I might get a bracelet of some kind. There are some cool ones with inspirational quotes on them. I could use the reminder

Yes, I met a younger lady in a 28 day in patient program three years ago, she was making these bracelets with all different colors of bands in them and really gifted, mine is black - When I was drinking, Yellow - Detox, Blue - Recovery and White - the future. I dug it out almost five weeks ago and have it hanging from the mirror of my truck as a reminder.

On my key chain, I have a heart that says my sobriety date on one side, and on the other it says "It's going to be difficult. Difficult is not impossible. " I got the idea from somebody here on SR several months ago. It was a helpful reminder early on to not drink, no matter what. Now whenever I look at it, I smile : )

No, I don't.

But for the past 2 1/2 years I've worn a FitBit. I never would have done this if I was still drinking, so I guess in a way, it's a reminder.

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

I have a scar on my upper lip from when I fell on my face during a seizure.

But I also have my friend's dog tog which he gave me to impart superpowers while I became sober. :-)

reminders are good in my opinion.

I took a picture of the hell I was in, and a note to myself. When I get comfy and just a cold beer sounds good because i deserve it-earned it-everythng is ok now so I can--- I look at the pic and read the note.

Sometimes we need reminders.

I keep an intoxalock in my truck to remind me not to drink. I guess I'll try something else in 22 er 21 months.

I had my Costco card picture taken when I was in the throes of one teeth clenching hangover. My eyes are like little slits. No joking here here, it looks like a mugshot. Puffy face, slightly disheveled hair. And it's black and white! You can't see the sweat on my face or my red skin.

Why would I go to a Costco when I was so hungover?

I was that hungover every day.

I do have a slight scar underneath my chin from the time I slammed my face on a dresser in a blackout. Luckily you can't see it unless I tilt my head way back.

I used to have popup reminders built into my phone to remind me to check into SR at intervals throughout the day, found it really helpful to get some support into my day and stay focused!!
