My Recovery Story

I was hospitalized 9 months ago with jaundice and early stage cirrohsis. I was there for a total of 5 days and then went to a 30 day recovery program. I turned 40 in rehab and have drank heavily for the last decade. Rehab setting didnt do much for me except keep me away from alcohol, but it did lay a foundation for sobriety. The detox thought I had severe cognitve problems because I wasnt interacting much in group or with other people. After release I moved back to my hometown and recovery really started. I have been seeing a counselor and attending AA meetings regularly and do not have the urge to drink. It has been several months since I have had the urge..AA works, at least it does for me. If you are on the fence, attend a meeting, it might save your life.

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

I love meetings. I feel so grateful while I am there. Meetings make me feel like anything is possible!
