Liver pain weeks AFTER quitting alcohol
Been sober almost 3 weeks on Friday.
The last couple days not as tired as I used to be and I feel my head is getting more clear even though having some pretty scary panic attacks during the day.
The last week I could feel bubbles under my right rib cage that I could push in to go away. I once had a hernia and was thinking maybe since I had my galbladder out I had gotten another one?
So first curious if anyone else had that...
Second though....
The last couple days been having a full feeling inside my right rib cage and today when I was breathing it would throb alot. Every once and awhile have had sharp pains...
I also get this tingly sensation that almost feels good like its healing?
Curious anyones thoughts? Or if anyone had this.
(YES I know we are not Doctors and I know the rules so I'm not looking for the response of go to the doctor. I'm really curious on others expieriences.)

Aqua, congrats on three weeks! anyone posting something like your experience will get the following recommendation:
Please go to a doctor.
This is not said to be a smart aleck. It's out of concern. I had some pain on my right side, but it went away sooner than that. You might be fine, but doesn't it make sense to see either way?

Yes, you can go to the dr. My experience with Drs is they don't know either.
I have pains in my right side. I think it's my gallbladder but not 100% sure as the dr couldn't confirm. They said to have my gallbladder taken out (only if I wanted to, they said its up to me, which is odd, because they are the ones that should know for sure what should be done). But even then, it may not eliminate the pain. So maybe what you are experiencing is that.
But just to get relief, I'd still go see a dr.
To add, when I am sober and change my diet, those pains go away. What you consume affects your insides greatly, I think.
Good luck!

I work night shift, I'm ALWAYS tired. I have not gone to the doctor over this, I probably should. I also have been having this weird reaction to things I eat, I get all rashy. So, I guess I'll make an appointment!
I had various things that eventually went away in time, but it was only a Dr that could pin point what was going on, that particular area of the body is very complex with soo many things going on that it may not even be the liver!!
To be safe, best getting checked out!!

I am familiar with pains from the liver area as well as a feeling of it being swollen/enlarged. Blood tests did reveal things there were not working well.
From quitting I can add that there was an itchy like feeling inside near there after quitting. Not sure how long it lasted but not more than a month I think. I'm pretty sure it's related to healing; itching is also a general symptom of detox for some people and I had that a bit but this was different - deeper in like.
As for tiredness, yes - getting up in the morning tired is one possible effect of a damaged liver. After about a month sober I can say that all the above were gone and my energy levels were great. This was some years ago when I last quit for about a year. If one can heal and how long it might take are likely very different for different folks though.
I started to feel liver issues again and quit again about 10 days ago. Hoping for a repeat of the prior success.
Be strong. I would think that plenty of sleep, eating well and exercising as best able would help your odds and maybe reduce the time it takes to feel great and get your energy back again.
As for the MD - a simple blood test will show liver enzyme levels for you. To know more they would need to biopsy a sample of the liver for fat or scar tissue. What mine did was tell me to totally abstain from alcohol and tylenol (aspirin is fine though) and anything else that is harmful to the liver for several weeks and then we retested the enzyme levels.
If for no other reason, get the blood test asap to see what it looks like. This should allow you to know that alcohol is not something you want more of when feeling weak in the future and for you to see that it healed come spring or late winter when you test again. Cause for celebration for sure.
Good luck.
