I want to stop
If you want to stop thinking about drinking and being buzzed, fill your time with something else. You have come to the right place because we are all just like you and struggle. We can't drink. If we could we would but to seek help means you can't just have a drink or two. We must learn to feel good without it. We must accept that the buzz isn't an option.
It doesn't matter what you do instead of catch a buzz, just don't catch the buzz and figure it out along the way. The "plan" you may read about here is just that. Don't drink and have a plan for when you really want to. Because we do want to, but we don't. To quote a comedian " there's plenty of reason to push an old man down the stairs, but you don't!"
Before you could get alcohol or whatever your buzz may consist of, you survived, and were probably happier.

PS IF you give a dang about what anyone else thinks about you becoming sober, stop that right now. Right. Now. If you want to be healthy, happy, and sober... Do it. Come what may... I challenge you to give me one good reason why you need to salvage any of those thoughts. It's a friggin buzz, not reality. IT is hurting you, your loved ones and causing you to spend a WHOLE lot of time processing it in your mind.
Just... stop. figure out what you need to do to make things ok without a buzz.

Mikie9...
Thank you. I think I do give a dang what people think about me wanting to be sober.... trouble is I've been so secretive about being a drunk that I want to be just as secretive about getting sober. How do I manage that?
