Smile Day 4, feeling better

I have now been sober for over 96 hours.

The 96 hours prior to that- consumed THREE 750ml bottles of rum, and 4 big bottles of strong beer.

After battling through a rage of emotions, hormonal imbalances and bouts of depression- I am now feeling fine.

And I plan to keep it that way.

Welcome, Tangent. Just don't pick up a drink, no matter what. The way to get past it is to - - - get past it. The thought will fade, just don't touch a drink. It will pass.

Hang in there, Tangent.

Day 3 is probably the hardest. It gets easier each passing hour.

Keep yourself busy doing something that satisfies you.

It always took me until day 4 to get my sanity back. The biggest challenge for me in stopping a bender is the 3 days of mental torture and insomnia I have to endure to get to day 4.

Well done getting through the worst of it.

End of day 8.

It has gotten much easier.

Minor cravings today, but reminding myself of the (past) and (potential) consequences gives me the chills- thereby keeping me on the shore away from the tide.
