Agreed.
Reading this I now remember a coworker friend saying this when I was in my mid twenties working my way up the ranks. Never rang true then, but of course never felt I had a problem.
It's a great idea to keep a log of thoughts like this. I store them on my phone in notepad and often reference them in times of need.
