This is crazy

3 hrs of sleep. If it continues like this I am not sure what to do next. I can't handle not sleeping it's kinda making me crazy. Day 4 today. Oh boy. I know, I know it will even out, darn it I look like the walking dead and that isn't a good look!

Have you tried some of the guided sleep meditations on youtube..? If nothing else, they at least make me relax deeply even if I don’t fall asleep.

Sleep was one of my most persistent reasons to keep drinking and the first issue I had to deal with when I quit. I read a lot about sleep hygiene and took any advice I could get. Not sleeping right messes me up in every way, I really feel for you.

Sleep gets better - I hope you find a regular sleep pattern soon.

Common sense things can help.

Try to make a set bedtime for a while and stay away from stimulants...tea, coffee, cola, cigs, PC screens, late night snacks.

Took me about 8 nights of 3 or so hours to get to the other side. It sucks, but you can do this! Don't relent now!

The insomnia was one of the worst aspects of withdrawal for me
especially as I had to keep working through it and since
I "think" for a living, I was really stressed and barely functional
but trying to "pass" as normal at my job.
Horrible.

It's pretty standard, but one silver lining
is that this is the last time you ever have to go through it
and you are already a good way through.
Hang in there and use this "memory of misery" to keep you strong when
your AV tells you one drink is a good idea.

It can take a few weeks for your sleep patterns to get back to normal. Whatever you do, don't drink!

I haven't thought about drink because of not sleeping. Drinking is no longer an option. If I do the next place I will be is dead and in heaven and I am not ready to die! Not sleeping makes me no want to do anything. I drank decaf sleepy time tea and have been going to bed between 9-10. I did notice I was a little sweaty last night but not to bad. Grr. Bring on day 4. I just need to do something productive more than I have been doing anyway!

You're okay, it's just part of the process.

My sleep was all over the place in early sobriety. It took a good month before I was sleeping on a regular schedule. I used to come here and read at all hours so my crazy brain would have something to do other than worry.

When I sobered up back in 1989 I didn't sleep well for several months.
I remember that the lack of sleep made it very hard to get to work.
But, I knew that being worn out was still better than drinking.
And my sleep did improve eventually.

My Dr. prescribed Trazodone for me after detox to help with sleep. This med. is non habit forming and helps me sleep. It was originally prescribed as an anti-depressant , but now it is being prescribed as a sleep aid. Maybe you can ask your GP about this, it really has helped during early sobriety. Best wishes....no sleep really sucks!!

Stella beat me to it. I listen to Youtube very night. Either a guided meditation (Michael Sealey is really good), some relaxation music, or specifically sleep music by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson. This man is an expert in sleep disorders and has perfected a way to calm the brain while aiding in falling and staying asleep. I highly recommend that. Good luck!

Garden - Have you tried some sort of exercise during the day - maybe a long power walk to help tire your body?

No actually I haven't, it's has been below freezing and one of the things Dave took that was mine was all my winter coats hats gloves. He also took a lot of my stuff out of garage. But anyway it's 35 now so by 11 or so I should have enough layering I can do. Plus holding to the dog will be hard and should help keep me warm. We will take a walk or her pulling me walk lol.
