Cool AA meeting

I have to say this 5:30 meeting is amazing! The room is cozy and everyone is so nice. Just I could say more to whole group instead of individually. I just say hi I am Susan alcoholic just gonna listen. It frustrates me I am so shy!

I'm glad to hear you found a nice meeting. That's great.
I found it so hard to share at meetings. It took me a long time to finally speak and I didn't say much. Just that 'I'm an alcoholic' was such a relief to hear myself say. There, it was a secret so long and now I've told people

I loved speaker meetings at first because I didn't have to say anything.
As I got some time behind me, I got bolder and would speak.
Take it at your own pace. I'm just so happy for you that you've found a nice group.

Best to you.

Keep going. Eventually you'll get familiar with the people at the meeting and may feel more comfortable speaking. Glad you went!

I'm new to AA- about 28 days. I was told it's best to just listen for a while. You will say what you need to when you are ready.

I'm happy for you.

I am so glad you found a meeting which is comfy and where you can relax. Don't worry about not speaking right now, like Ruby said you will get to know the people and after a while it will be easier for you to open up.

I'm shy as well. I have the same experience in meetings. I don't talk to anyone unless they talk to me first. Even then it is just "How are you?" "Good, and you?"

The meetings are still valuable though .. I hear things I really need to hear.

It frustrates me I am so shy!

Within 6 months I bet somebody asks you to chair the meeting.

And I bet you work up your courage and do it.

And then I bet you decide that it wasn't so bad and you volunteer to do it again.

It's surprising how much AA can change your behavior.
