Money

So i've only been sober for a week so far but one think i've already noticed is the money that im saving. Just now I came back from a movie (star wars) and with the food included it was just about how much I would spend a night on alcohol. The difference is I feel so much better having gone out and enjoyed myself in the company of strangers than just sitting alone at home drinking by myself. Bottom line is that the money i'm saving from not drinking is helping me enjoy outside life and this is keeping my willpower going really strong. I love it!

I shudder to think how much has been just thrown away. But no more.
Good job on the week!

Congrats on one week. :) Yes, the money saved. I now pay my bills on time since I'm not spending all my money on wine. :)

There is a free app called sober tool. It tracks days sober and money saved it gives reward chips for time sober. I'm sober 29 days and just bought a memory foam mattress an a 50 in tv and I have sober money left over its amazing how much money I was pouring down my throat.

I have definitely noticed money savings - especially when going out to eat. The food on the bill is now always higher than the beverages (even if the wife has a glass of wine).

Yeah, totally. One of my goals for 2016 is to go on a cruise for my 50th birthday in December. I figured out that if I just set aside the money from drinking, that will cover the cost!

I was spending almost $600 per month on booze. Not that I need any more motivation to stay sober, but saving money sure is sweet.

Nice work on your first week of sobriety.

Dt, I did the math once

I drank daily for near 35 years spending on average of $20 a day, that's a bar tab that exceeds $250,000

The money pales compared to my other losses over that time period relative to relationships, health, career, dignity, ambition, missed opportunity, etc

48 days sober and working to build a better future.

This progressive disease will catch up you, none of us are exempt. The timing of that will vary from person to person but the results are guaranteed.

Congrats on a week and good choice with Star Wars....I loved it :)

I too notice the money I'll save and have already saved. Every time I stopped at the pub it was at least 60$ with tip. Multiply that by 3 times a week....then the weekend it's always 100$ a stop. Glad that's all over. I spent 100$ on band t shirts yesterday as a reward and it was nice to actually spend money on something other than the booze.
