Trying again
This is about my third attempt at sobriety. First was short lived - maybe a couple weeks. Second was better - about 3 months. This is for real and forever.
My trek through withdrawal was wicked bad - full-time tremors, sweats, irritability, etc. I had it bad as my drinking was continual and really heavy. You really know it's time when you have to start each day with a drink just to chase the shakes away.
But I climbed the first mountain; again feeling great, sleeping well, and even remembering things from one day to the next. My wife (an angel) said "Welcome Home!". I'm going on my fourth week now.
MY greatest motivation is that I don't want to go back to that place. Water and diet cokes have become my go-to beverage backed up by broth and coffee. I'm whipping out Honey-do's with lightning speed and even made it to the golf course the other day.

Hi, Airbrushbuddy. Welcome to SR!
There's a lot of support and great advice and resources here.
Just today our supermod Dee posted this thread.
Having a good plan is crucial for sobriety.
Do you have some in mind?

Welcome to the forum, you will find a wealth of support and friendship here, as noted by Midnight's post a plan, at least in my case, is critical and I have been trying to beat this addiction since 1998, longest sober was 2+ years, I slipped as I put my plan on a shelf and when I had a relapse in November of last year it took everything dear to me, point being it gets worse every time we relapse until we have nothing left but a determination to stay sober and a plan to get us there.
I use every resource I can get my hands on, it takes a lot of work, in my case I love the sober Andrew as does others and I love life, this addiction isn't going to take any more from me again.
All the best and keep posting and reading.
