Just Start
Just Start
I just wanted to re post a great link my friend Honeypig posted on the Friends and Family of Alcoholics forum
It's a link to a blog that I hope will be inspirational not only to those of you who are new on the path to sobriety but also to all of us who sometimes get paralyzed by fear.
Thank you Honeypig

This blog was mentioned in an email I received, and the reason it caught my attention was this quote:
“Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with hands shaking. Start with voice trembling. Just start. Start and don’t stop. Start where you are, with what you have. Just start.”
Is there any one of us here who doesn't relate to that?

I needed this today. Thank you. One of the reasons I put off quitting was because of the withdrawals. The shaking especially. Terribly uncomfortable. I eventually realized that my life and my future were worth a couple of days of physical discomfort. A lifetime of better help was worth a few days of feeling awful. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this. Today is day 1 for me and I just joined this site. I'm scared to keep drinking, but I'm also afraid of not having my "crutch". I think this site will be a great help to me.
Welcome to SR TakesaVillage.
You made a great decision and you will find a lot of support here.
I would also suggest that you check out those two threads
The class of December where you can network with your peers who quit at the same time and are going through roughly similar things
The Alcoholism and Addictions Help Forums- by SoberRecovery.com (Class of December 2015 Pt 3)
and the 24 hours recovery connections where we commit not to drink or dug for that day. It is a fun supportive way to hold ourselves accountable.
