Day one
Day one
I have been a member of SR for quite awhile. I am a chronic relapser, but I am also a chronic try-againer.
So today I try again. It sure would be nice to be able to give myself the gift of one year of sobriety next Christmas.
I have ordered and received a bunch of AA literature.
One day at a time...

One day at a time...
I'm glad you're trying again. That's what I kept on doing, until I finally got it right. I've got six years now and they've been the best years.
Come here for support and encouragement. It helped me, it can help you too.

Hi, Blujay.
It's really easy to join a daily support thread.
Got, say to December thread - for those who decided to quit in December. A brief intro about yourself. Or just "Hi, guys.". And stick to it daily. Keep posting every day. Share you thoughts, worries, concerns, etc.
I started on one of this thread - it was my lifeline. 3 years and 2 months sober.
Get on board!

Having daily support from within the
fellowship of recovery helps us lean
each other for suggestions, guidance,
understanding, care etc each day we
remain sober and clean.
Just knowing that none of us ever have
to travel on our recovery journey alone
is definitely comforting and powerful.
Even with many one days at a time sober
myself, I continue to stay connected to SR
as a personal lifeline in helping others in
recovery just by sharing what ive learned
over the yrs . and sharing my ESH - experiences,
strengths and hopes of what my life has and is
like before, during and after my drinking career
and addiction.
I found a treatable recovery program for
my addiction to achieve health, happiness
and honesty in all my lifes affairs.
Trudging the road of recovery has been
quite a journey and has become a gift
I humbly appreciate.

Thank you Soberwolf. Yes, I went to one a few weeks ago, which was hard to do but glad I did go. Needed/wanted to do some more drinking though but I am so sick of that life. I will be getting to meetings too.
Day one is super hard...I can't do another one...I've received a lot of support here and so far so good...stick around, you can rely on this place for help...I would NOT have made it thus far without SR.

Who isn't/wasn't I just relapsed over Christmas after a week sober, and am now on day 2, so I am right where you are. Also like you, I refuse to quit. I have had more day 1s this year than I care to count. But that's the only way to go: Keep adjusting the plan and keep at it.
All the best,
KP

This may sound strange, but I was actually a teeny bit disappointed that I had a strong urge to try again today to quit drinking, because I was to go to a dinner party in the evening and the wine would be flowing. I went, had a non alcoholic beverage, and actually ended up leaving before dinner was even ready (wasn't on time) because all I wanted to do was be at the AA meeting at 8pm with people who are still strangers to me, yet I feel so much more akin to. Strange day. I am glad to be going to bed sober tonight.
