A Musical Holiday Weekender Thread Dec 25th Pt.2
I suppose it is down to the comparative ages that I quit but aged 27 after a couple of false starts I found quitting cigs easy whereas quitting alcohol at 54 much harder

Congrats LBrain!!!!
Still no cigs here - now officially at 24 hours. Explained to son I may be very cross at times, but he is willing to endure if it means I stop! He did get bug eyed when I contemplated taking out the self-checkout and all around me at WalMart though! He is currently hiding

I haven't been here much for a couple of days.
Congratulations on two years LBrain
I went to Clonmel, Co. Tipperary to visit a friend. It is nice to see different places now that I am trusted again. We spent some time playing cards and watching Iron Man (again...I love Robert Downey Jr!)
Yesterday the weather was so bad and we couldn't find an open coffee shop. So we found a nice bar with decorations of books, ornaments etc. An old fashioned pub. But the coffee was very good. I hadn't been to a pub for a long time. The very young waiter brought me a second cup of coffee. Then he turned around and said to the family sitting behind me: "Is the food alright for you guys?" The Dad promptly replied: "Don't know. We haven't got it yet".
Ah the joys of serving customers. I worked as a waitress for a very brief stint in college...never ever again!
When my friend went outside for a smoke, I was chatting to the guy sitting near us. (Look at me: I am changing and chatting to strangers. I love my new life!) Being from Iran originally, he told me a bit about his life. He was actually Kurdish and seemed very interested in my life and my education. He told me he would have liked to continue his education but that there were not many options in the refugee camp. His words were "I was born a refugee and I'll die a refugee. All we got in the camp were some reading and writing lessons and then I left at 14".
I have had quite a sheltered life. My parents both had good jobs and for me, not going to university was never an option.
I guess in spite of my difficulties, I am one of the lucky ones. I have so many choices. And it took a guy from Iran to teach me that.
There is so much of the world I would like to see and learn about. Hopefully 2016 will bring some new adventures!

Love all the pics Sao... I could spend all day there. Love it.
Marty, we are getting 6 inches with sleet and freezing rain. Stocked in the house to work from home. Relax.
Got so much done at work today. Keep the momentum. And ZeldaFan... have plenty of snacks for tomorrow too!
