Merry Xmas one and all. Santa bought me....
My 47th day of sobriety. I am finding it very very very tough. I am sticking to the plan but the cravings and yearnings are at their highest point since my last ever drink 47 days ago and my head is aching under the strain of it all. But it is fantastic to be with my entire amazing family for the first time in 5 years.
I hope you guys are all holding it together!
Peace to you all.

Pretty normal to have thoughts of drinking for a newly sober alcoholic, don't you think? Especially at Christmas and with family around. Lots of high expectations, lots of stress and uncomfortable surroundings.
I don't drink, even when I think about it. The thoughts are going to come. Keep moving toward recovery and away from addiction.
You're doing great, you'll make it through. If you have to, go outside for a walk or take a nap - or leave if that's an option and you feel a need to get away.

Merry Christmas Fabat50!!!!
This is my first sober Christmas in many years. I was a bit apprehensive going into the season but I am sure enjoying being truly present!
Congratulations on 47 days, you are doing great

You are not alone fab, I'm on the 56 days mark and I'm experiencing the same symptoms. This is my first sober Christmas and it feels good to be around family and friends.
The thoughts and temptation are there but I'm focusing on the negative effects alcohol would have on me if I take that first drink.
Hang in there, we can do this!

It really does get better though sometimes it seems to take just too darn long! This is my second sober Christmas in a row and it was so much easier this time. I had dinner with 5 other people and there were 3 bottles of wine and prosecco at our table. Nobody got out of hand and I had not a single twinge :-)

Thanks for asking Dee. I'm still hanging in. Took the children to the outdoor ice rink today and they were handing out hot mulled wine. I needed to sit on my hands and bury my nose in my scarf to avoid the aroma. Will be flying back home tomorrow so I guess things should be easier when I get back to my normal routine. Hope you are well.
