Tried AA meeting this am

Someone mentioned AA in a SR post...AA has never worked for me although I thought I would give it another shot.....called my non drinking best friend and asked her if she would take me to a 700 am meeting...she picked me up and off we went....it wasn't so bad....a lot of laughter and people were nice....think I might go Christmas Day and get my 90 day chip....happy holidays SR friends lets all try not to take a drink!!!!!

Worked the steps not in AA but in my las inpatient rehab ...they were hard (especially step 4 but I did them...still didn't get into the meetings....maybe I didn't go to the right one?

I haven't been in AA long but I have found that meetings can be extremely different from one to another. Keep searching for the right one. But don't focus on the meetings as being the most important part of your recovery. Guided step work out of the big book (my experience) is.

The steps aren't supposed to be "easy" but doing the step work IS the easier, softer way. You wouldn't grow if it was easy. :-)

as live pointed out, meetings are only a small part of recovery. working the steps is how we recover from the hopeless state of mind and body. practicing the principles of the program in all our affairs is how we remain sober- a daily repreive.
its a simple program. not always easy, but simple.

Meetings exist so the newcomer may find AA. It's also where to find a sponsor and some people to network with. Living the 12 steps daily is the action plan of sobriety!
