My friend
This morning I had to do one of the hardest things ever. My little dog who I've had for 16 years was put to sleep. I held him and felt the last breath leaving his body. I'm totally overwhelmed right now. My 9 year old son can't stop crying and I'm trying to stop crying in front of him but myself and my wife are just crying constantly. He was such a big part of our life, our first boy and it hurts so so much. I can hardly see this post through the tears... Sorry!!
Am so sorry
its so hard when a pet dies and having to explain whats happened to a child
a pet who was a member of your family for so long give yourself time to grieve talk about good times with him you could plant a tree for him in your garden somewhere he liked also wanted to post a poem call Rainbow bridge
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh no Adenough, I'm so sorry for you. They are family members. My best little buddy is 8 now and I already worry, I know I will just fall apart when I lose her.
Hang in there and know that you gave him the best life possible. He lived a long wonderful life and you gave that to him, and I'm sure he gave you so much back in return.
Prayers..

I am so sorry for your loss. It's funny how those little furry animals can become so important to us. They are just like children who depend on us. They only have one fault, and that is that they just don't live long enough.

Thank you suki. You know what? I used to complain when he came in from the back garden with his paws all dirty and would get my floor all messed up. I would love him to run in right now and mess the whole house up

My sweet kitty, Natasha, died in April 2014, and I still cry at least once a week. I'll never fully get over it. She was there with me through thick and thin for so many years, providing warmth, companionship, love, friendship.
I know exactly what you are going through.

Thank you living. I suppose I just wasn't expecting that sigh he gave out when they gave him the injection it truly broke my heart. I know it will get better in time but it's so so hard right now
