Day 12

So far so good. I'm sleeping better and don't seem to be having strange dreams lately. Thoughts of drinking still tug at me. I'm trying to change my patterns of behavior but it's slow going. It's been an effort to get out of bed at a decent time, I'm working on it.

I know everyone is different but can anyone tell me what to expect in the next week or two? Maybe towards the end of a month after a long drinking career?

Oh, I just realized I can no longer count my days sober on my fingers. :Xmasdana:Xmasdana:Xmasdana

Hi chrcarlson - congrats on 12 days :)

I felt pretty ill my first month but then things got better. I found more motivation and the drinking thoughts came less.

You seem to be ahead of my progress so far so I hope you start feeling better soon :)

3 days was better than 3hrs ,
3 weeks better than 3 days ,
3 months far better than 3 weeks,

I think i had two steps forwards one back , the sweats stopped in the first few weeks and my sleeping got better , i went from not much to 14-18 hours at the weekend for a month or so ..
My diet improved a bit and my face got less itchy and bloated .

keep on :You_Rock_

I can only say that every day sober is better than the last day, yes there will still be hard times but that is to be expected. So much of recovery for me was slow and gradual that it was hard to notice right away.

Give it time and good things will happen. I had many realizations after six and nine months sober about how much better off I am without alcohol. Just about everything is better with it gone from my life.
