The Mayhem Ensues

Well, the office party is just starting. Setting out appies and putting out the booze. I am tempted; I will not lie.

However, I have my sparkling juice to drink (pomegranate), and am constantly reminding myself that I do not want a drink.

I am going to get ready, do my hair, put on my face, get my dress on, and that will keep me busy for the next, oh 20 mins or so.

Mayhem at my office party always happens. Lots of heavy drinkers here. I will NOT be taking part this year. :)

If I find myself in a situation where the temptation is getting to real, I will come on SR, or I will leave, or both. Wish me luck!

You can do this, Vona. it will feel so great to leave the party sober and wake up tomorrow without a hangover.

JK130 12-18-2015 02:31 PM

You have a great plan. And, you'll be in a prime position to amuse yourself with people watching. Have fun at the party. Stay safe.

I'm taking my grandsons to the nutcracker ballet this evening!

Just think, you'll leave the party with both of your shoes and your bra and lipstick intact. :) That is a win, right there.

JK130 12-18-2015 02:37 PM

If your colleagues lose their shoes and underwear we want to hear the juicy details. Lolololol

Oh, you will. You will.

My office party was last week, I felt so proud and happy, later in the evening, when I was home and surfing around SR, stone cold sober and no hangover or embarrassment to contend with the next day!

I have to admit I reached around and patted myself on the back :lmao

You've got this, Vona :grouphug:

You'll be fine. Just remember your priorities are staying sober no matter what. :)

Good idea on leaving early before the mayhem ensues

Good job, Vona!

Awesome Vona, stay strong :)

Hevyn 12-18-2015 05:25 PM

Proud of you, Vona. You're doing this. :)

Carlotta 12-18-2015 05:37 PM

Great plan and you will be sober to take pictures of your colleagues making asses of themselves. If you are uncomfortable definitely leave (make sure you do like ZeldaFan and grab some cupcakes on the way out).

ZeldaFan 12-18-2015 05:40 PM

Gotta grab some goodies before you leave to make it worth your time, haha :) Office parties at my company always end in some kind of drama so even if I wasn't sober I would still leave early. The less I know the better when the you know what hits the fan.

I have 40 people or so in our office. 3 drink alcohol. 2 would have max two drinks and there is me. So this year it is 38-2

I wanted to share with you all that I woke up this morning with NO hangover. Why, you ask? Because I did not drink at the office party last night! It was about 5:30 when things were really going, and I wanted to leave, and almost did. I did a little self talk, decided to stay, poured myself another sparkling juice and danced a couple songs. I actually had fun after that. Home by 9:00.

I actually had fun at a party without alcohol. Imagine that? Not gonna lie, there were some tough spots, and I left before the mayhem ensued.

xoxo to all of you.

Yay. But did anyone lose their shoe?

Well done, now you know the joy of sticking to it!

SoberLeigh 12-19-2015 10:24 AM

Great job, Vona.

I couldn't believe a party could be fun sober but I was so wrong.

I cannot say what happened after I left, but no lost shoes while I was there. Ha ha. By the time I left, people were smoking cigs inside, spilling drinks, and smoking you-know-what outside. Someone definitely lost at least a shoe!

I used to like that song, "Tequila makes her clothes fall off."

If only it didn't strike so close to home. :(

I'm looking at you, Jose.

Indeed, my friend. Indeed.

Had the second Xmas party last night. Didn't really want to go, but figured I made it through the night before, why not give it another go. Like Friday, the beginning was hard, but then I started having fun, playing games and enjoying company.

At dinner, I had my sparking juice in a wine glass, and the guy beside me asked if I wanted more wine. I politely declined and he asked me what I was drinking. I told him, and he asked, "No booze in there?" "No." Then he gave me the stink eye, like I was somehow ruining his party. I could see his brain churning reasons. Then another guy said, " Hey, you'd better get a couple more drinks in ya, you're pretty quiet." I just wanted to crawl away. None of these people were used to me sober. I was always on the sauce.

I wanted to leave, but instead, talked to others, laughed and joked, played along with the games and, well, told that AV to eat sh*t. She was telling me, "See Vona, you're way more fun when you're drinking. Everyone loves you more."

She's a liar.

Keep 'er real, friends. xoxo
